The Old Town Business and Professional Association was originally set up under the original name of the Old Town Traders Association. The Association has more recently changed to the Old Town Business and Professional Association, reflecting the ever-changing business community of Old Town which includes specialist retailers, professionals such as accountants, solicitors and estate agents, and leisure, food and drink type businesses.
The aim of the Association is quite simply to promote business in Old Town. To this end the Association is responsible for the Old Town Christmas Lights which have been upgraded and greatly expanded in the last two years with £30,000 worth of investment which has been donated by the business community.
The Association currently has a first class committee which represents Old Town's interests in the wider Swindon with regular contact with the Borough Council, Area Councillors, Swindon Chamber of Commerce and the Swindon Initiative Group.
The OTBPA sponsors and supports many local events, including the Swindon Jazz Festival and the Old Town Festival.
If you would like to join the OTBPA please contact the Chairman, Richard Deacon, on (01793) 522072. The annual subscription is £25.
